Goal #1: Run a 5k on April 15, 2012. The plan was to wake up and do Day 3 of Week 1 of Couch to 5k. Instead, I iced my back. Ideally, I will run after I drop applications at restaurants this afternoon. Realistically, I will wake up and go straight to the gym in the morning. Then Thursday will be Day 1, Week 2. I'm already proud of myself.
Goal #2: Get back into my black suit. It's my biggest of suits. I need to assume that I will be asked for a face-to-face interview for grad school and will need to be in this suit. Trying to do it by April 1 seems ambitious. Here are the things I'm doing: ONLY eating when hungry. Eating protein and vegetables.
Goal #3: Appear healthy for my interview. The only way to appear healthy is to be healthy. I need to lose weight to appear healthy. It's for my future.
Goal #4: Be healthier so my physical for grad school doesn't show elevated BP. Lose weight, exercise.
All of these can be done. I suppose they aren't really goals as much as motivators. But I. Can. Do. It. I will do it. I have nothing else to do other than lose weight and find work.
Once I finish week 1 and start week 2, I plan to alternate the 30-minute workout at my gym. This incorporates cardio and weights. 1 pound of muscle burns 50 calories of fat per day. Gain 10 pounds of muscle and burn 1 pound of fat per week.
If that's not a motivator, I don't know what is.
