Pep Talk - Keeping it positive

Okay, so I've been good all week and I want my belly to be smaller this morning. What's the point of all the hard work if you don't get immediate results?!

I know, I know.

But how about after next week? Can I expect some results then?

In order to strengthen my lower back I have to start doing ab exercises. Crunches for a purpose other than flattening the stomach? Interesting. So what you're telling me is that the benefit to sit-ups is minimally two-fold?

THEN WHY AREN'T I DOING THEM?

You can't do it all at once. I'm focused on the main behaviour...blah, blah, blah...that is evening snacking. Integration of other behaviours along the way is key, but I'm not going to kick myself if I don't work out every day starting RIGHT NOW! I've done this before. I know what works. Pick one thing, get used to it, then pick something else.

Then again, gotta keep your eye on the prize. I love to kill it on an elliptical. If I start strengthening the abs now, once I have the food thing much more under control, maybe I'll be ready for those 45 minute sessions at the gym wherein I leave a sweaty mess! Those were the days (last year.)

What has happened to me? No looking back, only forward - positively.

I am controlling the food I eat.

I will start to make changes to my routine so that exercise is a part of my life.

Each step along the journey will be a positive, productive and healthy one.

Okay, now Jen, don't drink too much with the family tonight. Make sure to grab some lunch before you leave the office (yes, I'm doing some work on Saturday) and make sure that you eat slowly tonight. No SNACKING AFTER DINNER.

Tomorrow, sensible breakfast. NO APPETIZERS. No snacks. Lots of water.

Jennifer, you can and will do this! It's been done before. You're strong and can get through this weekend. Keep your eye on the prize. Immediate gratification? Blogging Monday and bragging about how well you did.

Okay, enough of the discussion in the third person. I'll check in tomorrow because I obviously need the pep talk!
